The Jewish Democratic Club of Silicon Valley welcomes the Consulate General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest and the non-governmental organization Sharaka at the Quinlan Community Center in Cupertino on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 6:30pm. 

Sharaka, meaning “Partnership” in Arabic, is an organization with the mission to realize the potential of the Abraham Accords by building bonds between young Israeli and Gulf leaders in order to strengthen peace, trust, and cooperation.

The Abraham Accords are a series of peace agreements signed in 2020are a series of peace agreements signed in 2020 that normalized relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. The normalization of relations between Israel and these nations has transformed the region and led to unprecedented levels of cooperation that were previously impossible.  

The Sharaka delegation will be sharing how the success of the Abraham Accords has affected them personally as well as their impact on the region as a whole. The delegation will consist of the following prominent members of the Sharaka team:

Havyi Bouzo: a Syrian-born American journalist and television presenter of Kurdish descent. Currently chief of the Washington DC Bureau of Orient News.

Dan Feferman: an Israeli-American author, speaker, researcher, and thought leader who focuses on Israel, the Jewish world, and the Middle East. Serves as Director, Communications and Global Affairs at Sharaka.

Lorena Khateeb: a Druze Israeli who works in the Israeli Foreign Ministry within the Department of Digital Diplomacy. Member of Israeli delegation sent to Dubai during the process of negotiating the Abraham Accords.


Omar Al Busaidy: a Fulbright Scholar, Author and Economic Affairs Liaison at the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in New York. Serves as CEO of Sharaka.

Fatema Al Harbi: an enthusiastic youth & cultural activist with an experience in the fields of Management and Governance. Serves as Vice Chairman of Sharaka Bahrain.

Chama Mechtaly: a Dubai based Moroccan. Founder and CEO of Moors & Saints.

 

The event is bi-partisan and non-denominational -  everyone is welcome to attend at no charge. Proof of vaccination and masks are required to enter. A light, non-meat dinner will be offered.
